社会 Social Studies

The seventh and eighth graders do American history. They learn about everything from the French and Indian War to the reconstruction era. The sixth grade studies world history. Students study everything from Greece and Rome, all the way back to Sumeria. Eighth graders also have to pass a test about the United States Constitution. If they don't pass, they can't graduate.

社会科では、それぞれの学年が違った部分の歴史を学習しています。７年生と８年生はアメリカの歴史を学習しています。フランスとインディアンの戦争から復興の時代まであらゆることについて学習します。６年生は世界史を学習します。生徒たちはギリシャ、ローマ時代から、さらにさかのぼってシュメールの頃からあらゆることについて学習します。８年生はアメリカ合衆国の構造についてのテストを合格しなければなりません。もし、合格しなければ、卒業はできません。

We do not have a separate civics class, but current events are discussed. Every national election, all the grades learn more the voting process and the responsibility of citizens to vote.

私たちは公民の授業としてはありません。しかし、現在の出来事が議論されます。すべての選挙はすべて投票手続きがあること、および投票への市民の責任について学習します。

 社会は、歴史、地理、公民があります。歴史は、日本の歴史、世界の歴史を、小学校よりくわしく学習します。地理は、世界や日本の気候、地形などを学習します。公民は、私達の生活が、どうしたらもっと豊かになるのかということを考えていきます。日常生活を振り返ったり、「歴史」「地理」で学習したことをヒントに考えます。
We learn history, geography and civics in social studies. In history, we learn about Japanese history and the history of the world. In geography, we learn about topography and climate of the world and Japan.　In civics, we consider how to make a good life by retracing past life and the using the knowledege we have already learned in history and geography.

数学 Math

In math we concentrate on Algebra. We learn foumulas, and graph expressions with graphing calculators.

数学では、代数を中心に学習します。私たちは幾何学およびグラフや表を学習します。		 数学では、数式、図形、数量関係などを学習します。
We learn about numerical formula, figures, quantities and so on in math.

理科　Science
Every wing has its own science lab. We learn about a different aspect of science every trimester: physical science, biological science, environmental science, astronomy, and matter. We do labs for different things in each area.
どの棟にもそれぞれ違った理科の実験室があります。私たちは毎学期、違った理科の分野に取り組みます。物理学、生物学、環境科学、天文学、などです。私たちはそれぞれの実験室で違った実験に取り組みます。		 理科は、生物、見の周りの科学、化学変化。運動とエネルギーなどを学習します。実験などをやりながら、新しいことを発見します。
We learn about biology, physics, chemistry etc.. We carry out experiments, then we find new facts.

国語　Native Language
In language arts, there are two different subjects we learn about. The first is grammar. In grammar students learn about subjects, predicates, verbs, diagramming, and everything about the structure of the English language. The second one is literature. In literature students read, do book reports, and write poetry and other kinds of writing.
国語の時間の中には、２つの違った教科があります。１つは文法です。文法では、主語、述語、動詞、図式、そして英語の文章構造のあらゆることについて学習します。２つ目は、文学作品です。文学では、生徒は本を読み、レポートを書き、詩や様々な文章を書いたりします。		 国語は、物語、説明文、古文、文法、漢字などを学習しています。
We learn about story, descriptive text, Japanese classics, grammar, kanji chracters.

外国語　Foreign Language
Students can elect to take Spanish I and II or French I and II. They learn to speak, read and write in the language. Not all students learn a foreign language.

学生は、スペイン語の１および２、あるいはフランス語１および２をとることに決定することができます。生徒は言語で話し読み書きすることを学びます。すべての生徒は外国語を学習するとは限りません。		 英語は、世界のたくさんの国で話されます。だから、日本でも、英語の学習をします。文法、リスニング、単語などを学習します。
We are learning English because the language is uesd in many countries. We are learning words, listening, gramma

体育 PE
In gym, we do different things every trimester. In the first trimester, each class switches between volleyball, field hockey, and the fitness room. 　体育では、私たちは毎学期、違ったものに取り組みます。　学期の最初に、それぞれのクラスはバレーボールとフィールドホッケー、そしてフィットネス・ルームの間で切りかわりがあります。 体育は、男女分かれて行います。男子は、サッカー、水泳、剣道、バスケ、卓球などをやります。女子は、バレー、水泳、バスケ、マット運動などをやります。
We learn in the two groups, girls and boys. Boys play soccer, swimming, kendo (Japanese art of fencing), basketball, ping-pong. Girls play volleyball, swimming, basketball, mat and so on.

美術 Art
Students can choose fine arts (painting, drawing, sculpture, and more) or applied arts (working with wood and clay to create useful things). Not all students take art electives. 美術は、静物画、人物画、スクラッチグラス、デザインなどをやります。
We learn about still life, figure painting, scratch glass, design and so on in this class.

家庭科 Home Economics
Home Arts- A trimester or rotation class where students learn to do things that they can use in real life, like sewing and cooking. Studnets use ovens and stoves to bake cookies, fried rice, brownies and even pizza. Kids use sewing machines to make pillows and pajama pants.
家庭　学期やローテーションで回ってきたクラスは実際の生活で生かすことのできることを学習します。縫い物や料理のようなものです。生徒たちはレンジやオーブンを使って、クッキーを焼いたり、焼き飯、ブラウニー、そしてピザまでも作ります。子供たちは枕やパジャマパンツを作るために、ミシンを使います。

前期に家庭科か技術科を学習し、後期に、前期やっていない方を学習します。
　家庭科は調理や被服、家庭生活、保育などを学習します。
In the first half term, students learn about either technology or home economics; then they learn the other one in the second half.
Studests learn about cooking, dressmaking, home and child care in the home economics class.

技術 Technology

Virtual Classroom is a yearlong class that can be taken by 7th or 8th graders. It is a technology class where students learn to make websites. Kids create websites in the classroom and with students in other countries
バーチャルクラスルームは７年生と８年生がとる年間を通してのクラスです。アドベのフォトショップ・エレメンツのようなさまざまなプログラムを使ってホームページを作ることを学習する科学技術的なクラスです。子供たちは仮想の教室に他国の生徒と一緒にホームページを作ります。

CMT or Career Module Technology is a class offered to students in all grades. In CMT students use intereactive modules to try out different careers that adults have. They also learn about technology in an Intro to Tech module.
CMT、あるいはキャリア・モジュール・テクノロジーは、すべての学年に提供されたクラスです。CMTでは、生徒たちは大人が持っているいろいろな専門的な経験を試すために相互作用のあるモジュールを使っています。彼らはまた、テック・モジュールの技術についても学んでいます。

前期に家庭科か技術科を学習し、後期に、前期やっていない方を学習します。
　技術科は、木工、電気、パソコンなどをやります。
